Film Opening Week 1 Post #1

 

    Today I begin a almost 2 month process for my film opening portfolio project.

I have two theme ideas in mind. A Fast and Furious style opening or a eerie opening like used in Black Widow. I want to use the concept of Cars and street racing to create a cinematic opening piece that will be unique to others.

 I am beginning to also figure out what type of music I will want to use. Allot of the songs I like are copyrighted so I will most likely email record labels to see if we can come to a agreement.

Nothing is a solid plan yet but I have big ambitions, so stay tuned!

Music Marketing Project Recap!

 After a couple weeks of hard work, my groups Music Marketing Project is complete! This is a short video to recap our time working on this project. Enjoy!

Music Marketing #1

 Me and my groups journey in this project has so far has gone very smoothly. 

We began with a music genre research where my group randomly got selected the genre "alternative". We found two record labels that have artist with that label and got to work. I did research on Coldplay, talking about their history, marketing techniques, and distributions.

After that assignment we began the big music marketing project. We choose the song "The Man" by the killers. Our group created a schedule so we are all on the same page for when we need to plan, film, edit, and submit the project. Yesterday we finished the storyboarding and now how the concept of our video down. 

All that is left is to begin the presentation, film, and edit. 

Genre Research Blog Activity

Genre- Romantic Comedy/Comedy

Love: The central plot is mainly around a romantic relationship, often featuring a "meet-cute" and obstacles to overcome.

Humorous Tone:  The narrative has humor, often relying on witty dialogue, slapstick, or situational comedy. 

Happy Ending: Romantic comedies typically end with a resolution that sees the main characters happily together.

Idealized Characters: Characters are often seen as charming, and relatable, even if they have some flaws.

Celeberties: The films often feature popular actors, particularly those known for their comedic timing and romantic appeal.

Romantic Imagery: Marketing materials heavily feature romantic imagery, such as couples embracing, laughing, or sharing intimate moments.

Use of Humor:  The marketing likes to highlight he comedic aspects of the film, often using funny taglines and trailers.

Promotion on Social Media:  Romantic comedies are promoted on social media platforms allot, using hashtags and engaging with fans.

Film example #1: When Harry Met Sally

The film captures this genre by presenting a realistic and relatable portrayal of a long-term friendship that develops into a romantic relationship masterfully blending humor and heartfelt moments. and it showcases the complexities of love and relationships. The iconic "fake orgasm" scene is an example of the film's comic brilliance while the ending is straightforwardly emotional. It is a satisfying commitment of this type.

The film is an example of the genre, featuring several interconnected love stories. Each story has its own unique challenges and aspirations. The film's ensemble cast is a mix of established stars and emerging talent. It adds to the charm of the film using impressive moments, funny conversations and the film's touching ending. Perfectly captures the essence of the romantic comedy genre.

Representation

Avatar The Last Airbender, popular animated series More than just the story of a boy who can control the elements, it's a dramatic exploration of identity, power, and the consequences of bias. The show's rich world-building and nuanced characters allow for a fascinating examination of representation. Especially through the lens of stereotyping and othering Katara and Sokka are relatives from the Southern Water Tribe. Katara is the last water bearer of her tribe. It reflects the stereotype of a strong, well-nurtured woman. She is fiercely protective of her younger brother. It has incredible healing abilities. and embodies the traditional values ​​of her culture. Sokka, on the other hand, is the stereotypical "everybody". who is a strong and cunning warrior who lacks redemption. But make up for it with intelligence and strategic thinking. This dynamic couple defies traditional gender roles. It emphasizes the importance of strength and compassion in leaders.     

    However, the show also explores the dangers of novelty and beyond. Ruled by the tyrannical Fire Lord Ozai, the Fire Nation is seen as a technologically advanced society obsessed with power. Their culture is seen as militaristic and aggressive. which is still the pattern of "Evil empire," although this depiction creates tension in the narrative But it can also be seen as another facet of the Fire Nation, showing how different and inherently dangerous they are.  

    Overall, Avatar The Last Airbender offers a complex and nuanced exploration of representation. Although certain stereotypes are used to create a narrative. But it also challenges them by creating diverse characters and exploring the complexities of power and bias. The show reminds us that representation matters. And understanding the impact of stereotypes and others is critical to creating more inclusive inclusion. and the world only

Sound Project

 We were tasked to create a story out of only audio. We were able to use audios from online but we had to create four audio's ourself. A quick lesson I learned from this project is that, creating a story with no visuals, is very difficult.

The direction that were given was: 

1. To brain storm story ideas that happen in about 1-2 minutes

2. Using the help of online sound effects, begin creating your story/scene

3. At least four of the sounds used must be created by ourselves

4. Submit files to correct area

My approach to this was to just create a normal scene with visual's and then at the end remove all of the visuals so it was left with only the audio to tell the story. However, this approach did not end up working the way I would've hoped. The outline we created was definitely a big help as I was able to look back at it for reference on where I want some audios to be. 

Premiere Pro was the editing resource used for this project.

    As this was my first time creating a film with only audio, I lacked experience and knowledge on what I needed and did not need. Our planning I thought was very good as we took time to think of the tiny details for our film and how we would get those sounds. However, their is allot to improve on which I have noted so next time I come across a task like this, I will be much more ready and create a better project.

One word film

 The directions for this assignment was to have a word given to us, then we were to brainstorm a storyboard a story of what our word was about. We were given a week and a half to complete this minute to minute and a half film.

Our approach to this project was to think of real world scenario's that we can relate to. Our storyboard gave a great rundown of what exact shots we should get to completely tell our story. 

I used Premiere Pro 2024 to edit this project.

A quick analyzes of this project of what I could improve on is my storytelling on what things are taking place in the correct timing sequence. Overall, I thought everything went very good.
